To cure a weakling child

Karma (More correctly Phala as Karma is action and Phala is the fruit)
Reigns for the childish ego who wishes to do bad.

Reincarnation
A blanket for the childish ego which fears the end of false identity.

Ishvara
Any personal god such as God, Infinite Energy, or any other name given to an ultimate but especially one looked towards for support is parent or guardian for the weakling ego.

GuRu
Meaning DarkLight, the person to guide you from darkness to light, or any other middle man such as vicar, rabbi, spiritual leader is the ego admitting it is small but also stating that it one day wishes that, with help, it shall be proved valid.

Mantra
Any personal mantra from "Om" to "All is good" is a weak clinging of the ego to some false positive.

Satsang
The company of wise people is a weak ego looking for someone it deems better to pat them on the head and say "it's ok, you're ok".

Meditation
An ego entering a state it wishes to maintain during all acts. The ego refuses to accept change and flow as it is too fragile so pines for a place with no movement.

Religion
The childish ego wishing to realign with that which it was never separate.

Yoga
The childish ego wishing to yoke or rejoin with that to which it was never separate.

Wheetabix and meditation

Eat Wheetabix and instantly rinse the bowl and it is clean.

Wait a minute and you'll have to rub at it with a sponge and soap.

Wait a few minutes and you'll be chipping it off with a knife.

So a good meditative mind lets things rinse away just as they happen.

And the less good hold on to each event.

Enlightenment for the selfish I

Wishing to be free of suffering and wanting enlightenment are very selfish acts of the i-ego. Although if the mind is to be wrapped up in any matter it may as well be this.

The truth is changeless, it never alters one bit. There outside of the bounds of time and space it has no action or form and no duration. Precisely EVERYTHING beyond that one truth can be said to be the mind. The mind at play and the mind obsessed over itself. When the mind has conjured up enough splits and forms it takes refuge in a body it has made and it pieces together a little kernel, a local point that it uses to refer to, attach ideas and concepts to, and it knows this as i-ego. This i-ego forms a world for itself to play in. This may be known as the subjective world of thoughts. A set of local thoughts and ideas which go to forming a world, one of stress and anxiety, or one of joy, most likely one of variation.

At some point this i-ego can be stirred from its made up self, star of its own show, world and can be given the idea of a new view, one free of this churning and change. One that is free of suffering and so on. The i-ego-mind is naturally quite interested in this, it has spent many years giving value to things and it rates this highly. It would like to buy it, have it for itself, or perhaps, if pushed, do some quick-fix steps to get it.

And so the quest for enlightenment.

However, when the i-ego is told that the world it lives is in solely a fabrication, one made of mind, it becomes a little confused and decides this thing must be learned about. So it buys books, DVD's, the company of wise or flowery people.

Time and time again the i-ego is told that it must attempt to go beyond mind, it must cast aside its ideas and preconceptions, it must HAHAHA destroy the i, the ego, the mind! It is not too impressed by this and more often than not, sits at some half way house or gives in all together.

~~

But it is not so difficult as all that. There is the alternate route. [ego wakes up to listen eagerly] but the result is the same, ego, i, and all the falsehood must go. This route is inquiry. It is best done with as little learning as possible and it must be determined, it must deter mind.

The method has two prongs: Fork one is to find the source behind the source behind the source behind the ..etc.. Until it is recognised that the one element behind, happiness, joy, sleep, thought, emptiness, pre-birth, pre-time, pre-concept, is the same. And fork two is to recognise ALL that changes, all that is transient, as the show of the mind and nothing more than mind.

When all that changes and emerges and flows and goes is seen as mind. And the unchanging root is recognised as the root to all, then the joining of the fork at the handle can take place.

WOW

Not sure if this will make sense, but I don't often let that stop me writing.

Meditation: As I allowed that in my vision to remain (eyes open) I also allowed that in my mind to stay also. There was a persistent tune and some thoughts in my mind and the room and items in my vision. I just focused on nothing until a spot of clarity emerged from no sense perception but from somewhere other. At this time I took to only concentrating on that and the field of vision, humming and thoughts stopped.

Focusing solely on that, I remained still to allow that and that focusing to merge. I remained for, from looking at the clock now, over 20 minutes.

I realized clearly that there is no effort in killing ego and no one to do it. No action as once merged with the subtlety of the oneness all such ideas of ego, self, I and so on were naturally absent. My mind occasionally attempted to reemerge and this was beneficial, to my ego at least, as I was able to map out some of the experience.

This merged point is blissful, it is absent of any forms or thoughts, it is ever present and the subtle root to all.

I mapped out how 'I' 'time' and 'mind' are born. From the subtle emptiness there is born a sense of I (dimension 1, the 1st dimension is I), held, this I forms dimension 2, time. Dimensions 3 and 4 seem to occur simultaneously as mind and this the 4 dimensions of I, time, Mind(2) which give space-time: Mind is born of a subtle nothing, that as it has no qualities, can give birth to all.

Past this point reality as we know it quickly takes form and that was the final move back to me here now typing - but I did not allow that to happen until just now, I instead stayed with just this subtle point for some time, just observing how the 1, 2, 3 and 4 build out from this 0.

Remaining with the subtle point 0 I knew bliss and that it would be perfect to stay, but I also saw how that moving to a lower vibration, a lower state of awareness - being human - would reoccur and was great fun and pleasurable thing to be and experience. Bliss is ever present but this lower state of worldliness is a unique and worthy manifestation.

It must now be the case of recognizing the subtle also as the root to the world seen, and experience it as the source to everything, so that there can always be one eye on the ground as I float a foot above on my balloon.

~~

Old recognition newly recognized.

On Guard

Meditating:
If it moves, it is the mind.
If it talks it is the ego.

So don't listen to that and don't be caught by the other.

What though is the stillness by which there is movement?

Who is the witness?

That I Am.

~~~~~~~~~~~~
The one thing we all agree on is That I Am. There maybe a trillion paths to truth, each must take their own, but on arriving, each must see: That I Am and That I is just One.
Meditating life
You may not know that one of the jobs I do is to ride 150kilos of Pedapod laden with normally two overweight tourists around the hilly city I live in. A Pedapod is a modern day Rickshaw that looks cool but is basically an overweight 3 wheeled bicycle able to carry passengers. At least though it is a positive environmental statement.
Riding this bike with a heavy load, in truth even when empty, is tough going but I, as ever, turn it to a spiritual and enjoyable task. I realized today the mechanics of how I get by so well. I do not use my mind. I've done this all along but today registered as viewer how I as rider work. I realized that Mind can not help with pushing, with energy, with stamina and it is at best a hindrance, so I turn it off or leave it to tasks of taking in the view, humming, mantra or stillness. I am then free to meditate and leave the legs to do their work uninterrupted. -- This way I get my heavy passengers, the heavy bike, and myself up the hills without really noticing.
I do this a lot with many tasks but just noticed myself doing it today on the Pedapod too. We can really enjoy life when we leave the bits to all do what they are best at and turn the mind off.
I-I
Anyone who is interested, please try the following meditation and report back in the comments section.
It is a method in another Sri Ramana Maharshi book I just dipped into.
You simply sit and repeat I I I (with attention inwards and repetition internally also), perhaps in time with your heart or at any similar comfortable pace.
I found this quite amazing having never done it before. The ego it seems LOVES to say I and so is completely transfixed by the process. All you are left with it seems is the watcher, the consciousness of the event, at peace.
Lovely.
Spiritual Halflife
Like many things in a cyclic world there seem to be half lives. It is perhaps the nature of the fractal or our very slight view on the ultimate reality of pure stillness that bring about apparent motions of decay where things spin away, to an apparent future, in an apparent idea of time, apparently before our eyes, and so we say are real -- that we see nuclear like effects from the micro-scale playing before our eyes in the macro - "HEY THIS IS REALITY" he says confidently to mask the truth, so he can play out the game of life in the way it seems so real.
The formation of reality is such a part of us that we forget, but when macro life plays out like science we see in the micro, the patterns link and the oneness of all is seen and because the patterns on no matter which scale are all acting, from the one stillness, where there is nothing, then life as we see it is demonstrated to be just a dream that is to be enjoyed. Why all the stress and strain?
The strain of everything taught as "the new way forward" or acted out as the 'new best thing' or any 'dreams,' and so actions, built from a desire to have 'more this' or this new that, are chasing the trails of patterns playing out in waves and forming the very reality that they are acting out.
Chasing them forms the action of them running away and so it perpetuates.
Half lives as seen in nuclear physics act out also in medical research, behavioral studies and most branches of thought. You drink tea and 2 hours later you are high, 14 hours later the half life is over. You have of course re-topped-up the peak and so extended the time until the half life would regress but had you not the half life would keep on decaying. Every 14 hours you'd be closer by half to being ever free of caffeine. Notice you can never be 'ever free' as there once was a was.
Again action leads to the event in time, and that relates to a perceived event in the future, the mix forms apparent time as an effect.
Harmony and right action leads to a better way and forced reactive living scrapes and scrawls its way along, making more fuss and bother.
'Harmony' - "being the way and the objective" is the way of Tao, and half lives and harmony are seen in science life and nature. What we also clearly see is disharmony in life and it's self-perpetuating, rude, rumble, through dreamworld.
There is no need to upset the dream and have any suffering, at all, not one bit: but the bare-bottomed, small-brained, blast through a few thousand years of history, has made it so, and it is rattling on from Phd's being written over "a better world of unity, globalism and prosperity" where they can not pass the subject without quoting so many others that not one original thought exists, to a populous obsessed over this or that.
All we have to do is sit back, chill Winston, take a breather, and it will all sort out. The people we can't relate to, those who go to war, those who incite war, those desiring leadership or change, are effects of the drum solo being played out in the dream reality - it is bad manners. They will rattle to a halt soon enough.
So here we go onwards, keep the spiritual half life well from decaying, strive on! Sit down, for a lifetime.
Coffee
Having gone; veg, green tea, mediation, and so on for so long I no longer craved any of the things I gave up: then something lead me to have coffee one day.
Wow, what a great drug!
The occasional coffee is a cool tool for focusing and freshening the mind.
This may not be a huge revelation but if you avoid coffee and you have no major reason to avoid it, then why not have a mid-strength coffee before you next settle down to meditate?
Original face
Drop the desire for enlightenment and then you are "not-I" and you regain your original face.
Anyone seeking enlightenment is of course not enlightened. Nor could anyone ever be enlightened, as on enlightenment, there is no I.
"I seeking enlightenment" is bound.
"Enlightened" is no-I, free.
So drop the idea you could ever achieve, as that achiever is not even possibly real. Drop the idea of an achieving entity so there is no longer a desirer; and then you reach the non-I, and there is enlightenment...
The one you are is that which is
"The one you are is that which is"
You get it? or
"The one you are is the be what am"
"The out there is not"
"The in here is not"
"The out there is you"
When you eat or breath there is something appearing to be out that goes in. That boundary you have a notion of is imaginary. Truly the food was always and will always be you. It was you way before you ate it and it crossing that imaginary boundary where you tasted it and began to dissolve it did not mean it was outside of you and is now inside of you.
This whole thing is acting. This whole thing is the only reality and it has always been. With no time, no real dimensions, it just acts. "You" then form time and ideas of separation "I ate the cabbage, I put it in my belly" - No you didn't, the universe acted and you got the impression that there is a you and some "thing" you did.
Few take on this as an intellectual endeavour to prove this to the intellect - "there is no I" - and they don't have to. The goal is truly to heart it, no thought, no logic, no analysis, just be it. Very very very few have done that.
Yet it is the only way it could be, it just is that way, recognised or not, it is.
Many just live with the false illusion, few try to work out the truth, very very very few live it.
What to do in killing I?
It is not to remove this "I"
It is not to work on the "I"
It is to recognise the true reality
and that is absent of any "I"
To work on the "I", to improve, or fix,
To aim to remove the "I" or prove it unreal,
are to re-enforce the "I" which is to enforce an illusion.
To recognise the true nature of reality will kill any idea of "I"
Job done.
The universe said Hi by the way
I'm not sure this would make you laugh anywhere near as much as me but;
I was in meditation, very deep I had had layers and layers of me fly away, I had sailed off to nothingness, seen the immense power of the universe acting out on scales unimaginable, seen massive space systems moving gracefully and powerfully through an empty void - I started to feel that this was me, (all of us in truth), but this was the great body, this is what it takes to make for the complex needs of a human -
my journey continued through suns producing chemicals and gasses, then sub-atomically the super small scale energy blasting around giving the impression by its fast movements of matter, matter that seemed to exist and seemed to form complexity, seemed to form me - -
and at that moment, from a deep meditation I heard, and was shocked by at the same time to hear, me say "hello?"
It made me laugh out loud.
The vast power and motion behind the universe, the true I body, coming together at a point that it saw itself looking back at itself and all it could say was "hello?".
You take away the sun and earth dies so the sun is more a part of you than your teeth. You do not end at the hairs on your arms, you start infinitely far away and come together at a center point you call I.
It was funny to hear the universe say hi.
Buddha was right
When I looked into Buddhism numerous times on my spiritual journey it would often induce a little depression and misalignment with the world. I though that this must be either due to me needing more work or because the teachings were contaminated and I was not seeing what the Buddha intended his teachings to carry.
I would always default to my position of "Tao-but not wanting to call it tao-nature-freedom-be-yourselfness". Not letting my mind be shaped, just reflecting and letting go, walking my own way. The message from Buddhism seemed to be that you could attain a "perfection" but Tao and life showed over and over that perfection is a bad, impossible, unnatural, tough and transient delusion.
Then though, as I walked the path of me, I discovered that that was just what the Buddha had done and said others should do (you're reading this and aiming for the comment button to say how obvious that is but ..). This may seem obvious; even I had grasped it by logic, said it, written it, "known it" - but only on it being the case within, was it a real truth.
And I have to say, looking back at similar times to today and today, there is an incredibly powerful energy, devoid of good, bad, I, you, this that, happy, sad - which does manifest as a bliss, sitting ever present behind every act of the universe.
I did have to unlearn a lot, forgive, accept, meditate, work - work not to achieve but to unachieve the "qualities" life had instilled my ego with, to uncover a truth that the Buddha had too discovered and wished to share with the world.
He was right, it was always there, will always be, we just have to see the obvious and this does take some work; just not perhaps of the kind carried by the mountains of text in the Buddhist canon, but just work to be sure you are being the real you and not the one shaped by the external world, family and peers.
As the 130 year old woman said of her life now, "It is nice to have no peer pressure".
He was right. Anyone following him is a fool. Anything written is dirt. But is sure is a powerful truth resting behind the mask.
EveryThere
You are not everywhere but everythere. Conciser it.
Where is "where"? it is questioning and not present.
"There" is direct and "there"
"I am everywhere", sounds meaningful and deep and wholesome.
but
"I am everythere" is truth.
---
In meditation try an English mantra. I don't use mantras normally but can occasionally find use in them. In developing single pointedness or concentration they can be a tool but what is the use of one that means nothing to you? Ok it may remove wasteful thoughts but the mantras are meaningful to those whos language they are born from.
Try: "Absent" "Absent" "Absent" "Absent"
or if it is generating too much negativity and you don't have the strength to get to the core;
Try: "There" "There" "There" "There" "Here" "Here" "Here" "Now" "Now"
"This" "This" "This"
and other words that draw you from the dual.
Graphical Happiness Meditation
This goes back a long way to the way my dad introduced me to drugs, not as in gave me drugs, but educated me on them.
He was always open and when I asked what the man chicken in our garden was doing to the lady chickens he explained at great length. I apparently listened with great interest, nodding at the right times, and walked away seemingly a wiser young 5 year old than before.
I returned later in the day to ask "but dad, how does he squirt it through the shell of the egg?"
With drugs he classed everything together, seeing no use in boundaries we got the chocolate, caffeine, nicotine, heroin, lsd, lecture all in one. All these things gave an Up that was followed by a Down. The problem with the more addictive ones was that the first Up was never matched, and the Downs went lower - dragging the baseline down with them so that with no drug the person felt worse than they had previous to ever taking drugs.
So when the Change you Mind Change your Brain lecturer mentioned a similar wave of happiness in the talk he gave it got me thinking again.
He said it was possible, and scientifically measured to be the case, that mediation can lift your baseline of happiness. He did not go into great detail, and I have not read the report, but it is quite easy to infer that a well practised mediator can have a unhappiness that is still higher than a day-to-day persons happiness.
like my graph will now show:
^ Meditator's High
| Meditator's Baseline
| Meditator's Low
| Normal folks High
| Normal folks baseline
\/ Normal folks Low
(You're probably fairly blown away by my graphing skills so take a breath to get over it...)
and here we go, Enlightenment in a scientific way may still be a normal state with highs and lows but even the lows are comparatively high compared to Mr and Mrs average.
"The way of Tao Wow".
It begins;
"It is enough to accept that all is bliss and that anything else is a misinterpretation"
...and it refuses to allow you to have restrictive thoughts such as religion, political position, ideas of right or wrong as they are traps keeping you from the ultimate reality.
"If you take true spiritual truth and try to make a science or religion from it then you will fail."
I had 12 hours meditation today, paid.
I travelled home in a chauffeur driven vehicle so big that I could carry many people with me.
Really I had a long day at work cutting and folding paper, but it gave me lots of time to meditate.
And I got the bus home.
